Kasteel Rouge 33cl 8%vol

Brouwerij Van Honsebrouck take Kasteel Donker, their strong dark quadrupel, and blend it with sour cherry liqueur. The result is eight percent, deep red, and unashamedly sweet: morello cherry, marzipan and dark chocolate over the roasted malt of the base beer, with just enough acidity from the fruit to keep it moving. Beer purists tend to disapprove; almost everyone else finishes the glass. Serve it well chilled in a small chalice, and treat it as pudding rather than as a session beer, because eight percent goes a long way.
