Savigny-Les-Beaune La Dominode 2006 Premier Cru Rouge

La Dominode is the best-known premier cru in Savigny-lès-Beaune, a section of Les Jarrons on the Pernand side of the valley planted with unusually old vines, and it produces a firmer, more structured wine than the village’s easygoing reputation suggests. Two thousand and six was a middling year in Burgundy that has aged rather better than expected. Nearly twenty years on: dried cherry, undergrowth, iron, leather and a savoury, stony finish over resolved tannin. Decant briefly and serve at 15-16C.
