Coopers is the largest Australian-owned brewery, based just outside of Adelaide and famous for two reasons, thirstly due to their beers and secondly because they are also the world’s largest home brewing equipment. Founded in 1862 the brewery celebrated their 150th anniversary in 2012 and are still going strong producing pale and sparkling ales as well as their porter.
The nose is exceptional, with a distinct note of cocktail cherries contrasted against burnt toffee and fortified coffee. Silky and smooth in texture there is a notable taste of dark chocolate and a smoky bitterness derived from the roasted malt. All in all a beautifully made stout! £2.66 // 6.3% ABV // 375ml.
