Tripel Karmeliet 8.4%vol 33cl

Bosteels brew this to a recipe said to date from 1679, using three grains — barley, wheat and oats — which is where the name comes from and, more importantly, where the texture comes from. The oats are responsible for that famously creamy body. Golden and hazy beneath a thick white head, with banana and vanilla from the yeast, a lemony citrus lift and spice from coriander and orange peel. At 8.4% it hides its strength rather dangerously well. Serve at 5 to 8 degrees in a broad glass.
