Mas de Daumas Gassac is a winery located in the Languedoc region of France. It is known for its innovative winemaking practices and its commitment to sustainable agriculture. The estate was founded in 1971 by the Guibert family, who were inspired by the natural beauty of the region and the potential for great wine.

The winery is located in the Gassac Valley, which is known for its unique soil conditions. The soil is a mixture of clay, limestone, and sandstone, which provides a good balance of nutrients and drainage. The climate is Mediterranean, with hot, dry summers and mild winters.

The estate has 67 hectares of vineyards, which are planted with a variety of grape varieties, including Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Grenache, Syrah, and Viognier. The grapes are grown using organic and biodynamic methods, which help to preserve the natural balance of the soil and the environment.

The wines of Mas de Daumas Gassac are known for their complexity, elegance, and longevity. The red wines are typically blends of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, and Grenache, with a touch of Syrah or Viognier. The white wines are blends of Chardonnay, Viognier, and Chenin Blanc.

The winery produces a variety of wines, including:

  • Mas de Daumas Gassac Rouge: The flagship wine of the estate, this blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, and Grenache is known for its complex flavors of black fruit, spice, and tobacco.
  • Mas de Daumas Gassac Blanc: This blend of Chardonnay, Viognier, and Chenin Blanc is a refreshing and aromatic wine with flavors of citrus, stone fruit, and honeysuckle.
  • Mas de Daumas Gassac Rosé: This blend of Grenache, Syrah, and Cinsault is a light and refreshing wine with flavors of strawberry, watermelon, and herbs.
  • Mas de Daumas Gassac Cuvée Emile Peynaud: This wine is a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, and Syrah from older vines. It is a more concentrated and complex wine than the regular Mas de Daumas Gassac Rouge.

Mas de Daumas Gassac wines are available in over 40 countries around the world. They have been awarded numerous accolades, including 90+ points from Wine Spectator and Robert Parker’s Wine Advocate.

The wines of Mas de Daumas Gassac are a testament to the potential of the Languedoc region to produce world-class wines. They are complex, elegant, and long-lived, and they offer a unique expression of the terroir of the Gassac Valley.
