The tall yellow bottle that has stood at the back of every bar since the seventies, and rather better than its reputation suggests. Galliano is an Italian herbal liqueur built on vanilla, star anise and a long list of Mediterranean herbs, sweet and unmistakably aromatic. It makes a Harvey Wallbanger, obviously, and a Golden Cadillac, and a float of it on a hot coffee is genuinely lovely. Forty-two percent, which surprises people.
