Buffalo Trace is distilled at Frankfort in Kentucky, on a site that claims the longest continuous distilling history in America, having stayed open through Prohibition on a medicinal licence. The standard bourbon is the benchmark most others are judged against for the money: corn-led with rye in the mash bill, aged in new charred oak as the law requires. Vanilla, caramel, brown sugar, oak and a little mint. This is the five centilitre miniature, right for a taste, a gift or a hip flask.
