Andre Scherer Pinot Gris Reserve 2023

Alsace Pinot Gris is a different animal from Italian Pinot Grigio, though it is the same grape: picked riper, made richer, and often with a touch of residual sugar that balances rather than sweetens. André Scherer are a family house at Husseren-les-Châteaux, on the slopes below the three castles. The Réserve is their fuller bottling. Ripe pear, quince, honey, smoke and a hint of ginger, broad on the palate with good acidity behind. Serve at 10-11C with pork, smoked fish, or a curry.
