Wine Of The Week # 24 // Guigal Cotes du Rhône Rouge ’11

The Guigal estate owns vineyards in Condrieu and the Côte-Rôtie, founded in 1946 by Etienne Guigal in Ampuis, a small, ancient village of the Côte-Rôtie appellation. Now in their third generation of winemaking the estate are renowned for producing exceptional vintages year in year out using traditional vinification techniques tied to the traditions of the Rhône valley.

A fantastic blend of Syrah, Grenache, and Mourvèdre grape varieties, aged for one and a half years in oak this wine is a deep, dark red in colour with a slight shine in appearance. Hugely aromatic with fresh fruit, red berries, tobacco and spice all apparent this wine is well rounded with supple tannins a full body and a long finish. 75cl // 14% ABV // £12.99.
