Beer Of The Week # 13 // Schneider-Weisse Tap 6

NEWAventinus_brand

Two hundred years ago wheat beer could only be brewed by the Bavarian royal family, mainly as being the royal family they were free to make up laws as they saw fit. Though due to a steady decline in sales the then monarch King Ludwig II discontinued this style and sold the production rights to Georg I Schneider, thus founding the Schneider-Weisse brand that’s still going strong today now with the 6th Georg Schneider at the helm.

The oldest wheat doppelbock produced in Bavaria since 1907, this beer is dark-ruby colour in with a fine, creamy head. Strong notes of ripe bananas, raisins and plums meets liquorice and roasted malt aromas. Full-bodied and warming, with a well-balanced and smooth finish, ideal with game, chocolate desserts and blue cheeses. 500ml // 8.2% ABV // £3.99
