Wine Of The Week # 15 // Les Clos De Paulilles

77_1

Clos des Paulilles is located close to the Mediterranean in the protected geographical area of the Paulilles Bay. This area’s schist soils, dry, sunny climate, low yields and proximity to the cooling influences of the sea make it a perfect terroir for Syrah, Grenache and Mourvèdre. The term ‘rimage’ is Catalan for vintage, at this vineyard only best wines from the best vintages are “declared” and bottled young to protect the wines character.

This complex wine is produced entirely from the Grenache Noir grape variety, red fruit aromas such as cherry, blueberry and black currant are all apparent on the nose. In terms of taste, coffee, brown sugar, old pepper and spice are all nogable flavours. Warm, mulled fruits carry over to the palate, and this medium to full-bodied dessert wine has a ample texture and a clean finish. Ideal with chocolate! 500ml // 16.5% ABV //
