Wine Of The Week # 10 // Lungarotti Rubesco ’10

Previously renowned for his family’s small-production wines, Giorgio Lungarotti decided to transform his vineyard, increasing production and putting Umbrian wines on the map, through a mixture of traditional respect for the land and modern innovation and research, to create a new way to grow the vine, and a selection of the traditional varietals vinified in a scientific manner.

A simple blend of Sangiovese, Colorino and Canaiolo, the 2010 Rossi di Torgiano Rubesco is laced with dark cherry and bright fruit intensity. Soft shadings of spice and leather add depth and persistency. A simple winemaking philosophy is favored in order to maintain the integrity of the fruit, fermented in stainless steel and then subsequently in aged in oak for one year. £11.99 // 13.5 % ABV // 750ml.
